# The Sparrow - Mary Doria Russell

De tekst op achterflap is prikkelend, de schrijfstijl is prima, men bespreekt een paar interessante punten en bij vlagen zat ik wel in het verhaal.  
Maar uiteindelijk werd ik niet gegrepen door de hoofpersoon en had ik problemen met m'n suspension of disbelief.  
De ontdekking van een buitenaardse beschaving die eigenlijk maar weinig ophef geeft. Het gemak waarmee de interstellaire missie werd opgezet. De naïviteit waarmee het contact met die beschaving verloopt. Het zijn geen centrale punten in het boek, en het is geen puur science fiction verhaal, maar toch vond ik het storend.

Er is een vervolg, Children of God
